Today, January 23rd is National Reading Day!

As we get familiar with our co-workers’ bookshelves in their zoom backgrounds in 2020, we couldn’t help but ask them about their favorite reads in quantitative finance. To celebrate National Reading Day, we decide to share this list with the world.

Whether you want to better understand the history of the industry or just to keep up with that new year resolution to read more, here are 8 must-reads for quants and finance professionals, recommended by team QB. We hope you enjoy reading them as much as we did!

  • My Life as a Quant: Reflections on Physics and Finance by Emanuel Derman

Recommended by Reza Gholizadeh from QB's Research. “In My Life as a Quant, Emanuel Derman relives his exciting journey as one of the first high-energy particle physicists to migrate to Wall Street. Page by page, Derman details his adventures in this field―analyzing the incompatible personas of traders and quants, and discussing the dissimilar nature of knowledge in physics and finance.”

  • Confusion de Confusiones by Josef de la Vega, 1688

Recommended by Rob Almgren, QB’s Chief Scientist & Co-founder, “A really great book that is not recent but that very few people seem to have heard of is Confusion de Confusiones by Josef de la Vega, 1688. It is amazing how little this business has changed.”

We hope you’ll enjoy our favorite books. Let us know what are your favorite books about quantitative trading and finance, happy reading!
